Emma has a background in informal education, qualified as a person centred planning facilitator and Disability Equality trainer. Emma has expertise in the Equality Diversity Inclusion arena and has worked in the voluntary sector for 10 years having previously conducted academic research into the portrayal of disabled people by third sector organisations.
Emma has worked with statutory, voluntary and independent provides to influence commissioning and worked to improve local health and social services for people affected by Multiple Sclerosis.
Emma is a National Voices Lived Experience Facilitator delivering sessions around the lived experience and resilience theory on behalf of the NHS Leadership Academy for clinical and non clinical management. This is based on her own patient experience which has been prolific care of Cerebral Palsy and Multiple Sclerosis.
Michelle is a nurse with active registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council and has over 20 years experience.
Michelle has worked in acute medicine, working her way up to ward sister in acute respiratory medicine and then moved on to build a career within specialist palliative care.
Michelle has experience of working in a hospice inpatient unit, community palliative care and then as a team lead developing an acute specialist palliative care team in a general hospital.
More recently, Michelle worked as a Head of Patient Services and Clinical Governance in a hospice before taking a role as a member of the Senior Leadership for a Leading Cancer Charity leading on Patient Engagement and Volunteering across the South West of England and The Channel Islands.
